Choosing to eat healthily has marvelous benefits and is becoming a more popular way of living. Poor diet is one factor in diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure which can place a drain on the economy. Although we’re always being advised to follow healthy eating habits, it is also easier than ever to rely on fast food and other convenience items that are not healthy for us. It is likely that a lot of people assume it will take so much effort to eat a healthy diet or that they have to make a large scale change to the way they live. It is possible, however, to make some small changes that can start to make a good impact on our everyday eating habits.
One initial thing you can do is to pay close attention to the choices you make when you’re shopping since you most probably purchase a lot of food items out of habit. For instance, if you eat cereal for your breakfast, do you ever look to see what the sugar and salt content is before buying? Eating a bowl of oatmeal will provide you with the energy to face the day while protecting your heart simultaneously. You don’t like eating oatmeal on its own, try mixing in fresh fruits that have other healthy nutrients and as such, one modest change to your diet has been achieved.
To sum up, it is not hard to start making healthy eating a part of your daily lifestyle.

- Blanch the chikuwa for about 20 seconds. The taste will disappear if you boil for too long.
- Mix two blocks of cream cheese and wasabi well. If you don’t mix it evenly, you won't know which parts of the dish are hot or not!
- The stuffing in this picture is also not the best, but don’t worry! Just eat as soon as possible and nobody will realize!
Traditionally, Chikuwa is made from "Surimi (すり身)" fish paste kneaded with salt, sugar, starch, and egg. Place block of cream cheese on serving platter. Using a spoon, make a well down the center of the cream cheese block. Pour wasabi sauce into the well and use a spoon to spread it to the edges so it flows a little over the sides. Drizzle Ponzu sauce over the top and around the cream cheese block.
